Shot on location in the late '40s in Manhattan. Beautiful photography. Hard-boiled narrator and sensitive characters. A glimpse of the first Sol Moscot, which is still in operation at the corner of Orchard and Delancey. Also of the Essex Market, which is rumored to be moving sometime in the nearish future. Scenes capturing everyday life in the city. All the myriad forms of life happening simultaneously in this steel-and-concrete honeycomb.
